A 24-year-old Hilo man was scheduled for his first court appearance Tuesday on kidnapping, sexual assault and terroristic threatening charges in connection with a reported kidnapping on Saturday.

Keahi Sale was scheduled to appear in District Court in Hilo early Tuesday afternoon. His bail was set at $80,000.

No additional information about the hearing was immediately available.

Sale was arrested Saturday evening after police asked for the public’s help locating him and a 27-year-old woman he allegedly kidnapped earlier that day, according to police, who said that Sale was reportedly in possession of a handgun and holding the woman against her will.

According to court documents, he is facing charges of kidnapping, second-degree sexual assault, second-degree terroristic threatening and two counts abuse of a family or household member in connection with the Saturday incident.
